John Soltani, FC United's Girls' Assistant Director Becomes Girls' Development Academy Director

FC United is pleased to announce the appointment of John Soltani as the Girls' U.S. Soccer Development Academy Director. John brings extensive knowledge in coaching youth girls from the ages of U8 to U19. He most recently held the position as Assistant Director of Coaching of the FC United Girls' program and the Director of Coaching of Spartan FC (an FC United affiliate). John is committed to developing players the proper way. He is an advocate of continuous education to better prepare himself to teach today's youth. Personally, John holds:

• USSF A License

• NSCAA Premier Diploma

• USSF Youth National License

While making an impact on today's youth at the club level, John has also been very active at the State, Regional and National level. He currently serves as:

• ODP National Staff Coach   I   2016 - Present

• US National Training Center   I   2016 - Present

• ODP Regional II Staff Coach   I   2014 - Present

• ODP State Coach   I   2012 - 2016

FC United is at the forefront of girls' soccer in the Chicagoland area and is one of the seventy-five clubs nationwide to be awarded Girls' Development Academy status by the United States Soccer Federation. Upon being named Girls' Academy Director, Soltani said, "I am very excited to be given the opportunity and responsibility of starting the Girls' Development Academy program for FC United. There are special players at FC United and...we are excited that we will be able to offer them this great platform to play in."

FC United's Executive Director, Roy Wiggemansen added, "John's experience with U.S. Soccer and FC United makes him the perfect person to implement the Development Academy technical and tactical curriculums, while combining it with the culture we have been building at FC United for the past decade."

The Girls' FC United Development Academy will start its inaugural season in August 2017. According to Soltani, "The goal is to attract the best players not just from this area, but from all over Illinois and northern Wisconsin to join our DA and become one of the elite clubs in the country." FC United is currently holding Identification Camps to drive talent from both within and outside FC United.
